Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin [1848-1903] was a leading French Post-Impressionist artist. He was an important figure in the Symbolist movement as a painter, sculptor, print-maker, ceramist and writer. His bold experimentation with colouring led directly to the Synthetist style of modern art while his expression of the inherent meaning of the subjects in his paintings, under the influence of the cloisonnist style, paved the way to Primitivism and the return to the pastoral. He was also an influential proponent of wood engraving and woodcuts as art forms.

In casa porta felicità e fortuna e tenuto in negozio porta soldi e clienti.

il dolore non vi meraviglierebbe meno della gioia;
accogliereste le stagioni del vostro cuore
come avreste sempre accolto le stagioni
che passano sui campi.

Night Tango in Paris | Denis Nolet, 1964

Denis Nolet, Canadian painter, was born in Quebec in 1964. Beginning his study of art at the age of nine, Nolet was able to experiment with various styles of painting early on, finding his own unique genre in a fusion of his influences and establishing himself as an artist by the time he was only twenty.
Preferring moonlight to sunlight, Nolet paints scenes saturated with the romance of the night. With a brush stroke suggestive of Seurat and a palate of infinite hues, Nolet creates a mirage of his medium wherein he seems to transform the oil paint into soft, smooth, cloth. The finished painting almost appears as if it were dyed rather than painted. This illusion of a delicate fabric in place of canvas makes Nolet's work all the more sentimental. It is only upon closer inspection of the work that brush strokes become visible and the piece can be more certainly deciphered as an oil painting.

I use maps as a surrogate for paint and as a way to expand the limits of representational painting. Through a process of cutting up and reassembling fragments of maps from different places and times, I am attempting a more complete representation of an existence, one that incorporates the geographical and historical timelines of that existence within the matrix of its image”.

The fractal geometry of nature" in 1982.

Christophe Jacrot, French photographer, lives and works in Paris. He started off in the film industry, before moving on to photography, his first passion. Christophe started photographing the rain by accident. “I had an order for a travel book about Paris, and sun was a pre-requisite for all the photos! But the weather was desperately rotten, and that is how I had the idea of starting the Paris in the rain series. It was a sort of contradiction…”
After realizing “Paris Under the Rain”, Christophe was looking for a very different city to shoot, but also very urban. Hong Kong quickly become his number one choice because of its raining season and its crazy urban life. New York, London and many others followed quickly after! He is fascinated by the confrontation between two massive forces: weather and towns. "The first thing that attracts me is the romantic dimension and the emotion of the rain, (snow) and the unexploited visual universe hidden behind it".
